Widow's Bay: parents' guide
Best for ages 15 and up. Rated TV-MA.
A creepy, funny horror-comedy for older teens who like their scares mixed with jokes. The mayor of a remote island town tries to lure tourists while dismissing the curse everyone else believes in, until possessed sailors, ghosts and monsters prove it real. Gore is modest, but jump scares and dread build across the season, and a minister is found after hanging himself. Expect frequent f-words, heavy drinking, a teen smoking marijuana and the mayor tripping on mushrooms. There is no sex or nudity. About 15 and up suits it.
