Mare of Easttown: parents' guide
Best for ages 16 and up. Rated TV-MA.
A gripping small-town murder mystery for older teens and adults, with grief and addiction at its heart. A worn-down Pennsylvania detective investigates the killing of a teenage mother while coping with her own son's suicide and a family torn apart by heroin. Expect a murdered teen's topless body, shootouts, an overdose, kidnapped young women, adult men's sexual relationships with teenagers, one sex scene and constant f-words. A major character dies suddenly, and the killer's identity is upsetting. It is humane and thoughtful but heavy, which is why we suggest 16.
