Love Is Blind: parents' guide
Best for ages 16 and up. Rated TV-MA.
An adult reality dating show best saved for older teens. Singles get engaged after talking through a wall without seeing each other, then try to make it to a wedding a few weeks later. The show runs on frank talk about sex and attraction, with make-out sessions in bedrooms and showers and sex implied on getaway trips. Swearing, including f-words, is constant, many cast members drink heavily, and arguments can turn into screaming matches. Cheating, heartbreak and rejections at the altar are the main draw. About 16 and up.
What's in it
Violence
MildNo physical fights, but arguments escalate into screaming and crying. Early conversations through the wall touch on topics like military service and the abuse of dogs.
Language
StrongStrong profanity, including frequent f-words, from much of the cast. Common Sense notes it picks up as couples get comfortable with each other.
Sex and nudity
ModerateConstant talk about sex and attraction. Couples make out in bedrooms and showers and sex is implied; UK classifiers flag sex scenes in two later seasons. Bare backsides are briefly visible, swimwear and towels are common, and infidelity recurs.
Drinking, drugs and smoking
ModerateHeavy drinking runs through every season, from wine and cocktails to hard liquor, and several cast members are shown drunk and emotional.
Scary or intense scenes
MildNothing scary, but there are tearful breakups, painful rejections at the altar and some ugly fights between couples.
Worth talking about
The show claims looks don't matter, then spends a lot of time on them. Talk about how editing shapes who comes across as the villain.
