Kaiju No. 8: parents' guide
Best for ages 15 and up. Rated TV-MA.
A monster-fighting action series with plenty of comedy and an underdog hero, better suited to teens than younger kids. A 32-year-old who cleans up dead kaiju finally gets his shot at the Defense Force after he gains the power to turn into a monster himself. Across two seasons, battles are big and bloody, with gushing kaiju gore, severed limbs and a few human deaths, including a young officer's father, who is killed and absorbed by a monster. Expect mild to moderate swearing and a few crude or sexual jokes. Age 15 follows the TV-MA streaming rating and the frequent gore.
