Bait: parents' guide
Best for ages 15 and up. Rated TV-MA.
A sharp, uncomfortable satire for older teens and adults that takes on racism, fame and identity. A British Pakistani actor gets a shot at playing James Bond and starts to unravel as online hate, family tension and his own anxiety close in. Language is the main issue: frequent f-words plus racist and anti-Muslim slurs, which the show puts front and center to expose prejudice. There are also panic attacks, hallucinations, a pig's head thrown through his parents' window, and a violent dream sequence. Age 15 reflects the language and the heavy themes.
What's in it

ModerateLittle real fighting, but a severed pig's head is hurled through a window, the lead breaks a man's arm, and he is hit by a car. Hallucinations show critics and family members being killed, and a flashback shows him beaten up as a boy.
Language
StrongFrequent profanity, including f-words, s-words, bastard and dick, plus a steady stream of slurs about Pakistani, Muslim, South Asian and Arab people that the show highlights in order to criticize. The lead also uses an ethnic slur against a relative.
Sex and nudity
MildCrude talk about sex, British slang like "shagging," and a charged reunion with an ex-girlfriend. No sex scenes or nudity are reported.
Drinking, drugs and smoking
MildSome social drinking and smoking, and a character drinks what looks like alcohol while filming a scene. No drug use is reported.
Scary or intense scenes
ModerateThe lead has panic attacks and vivid hallucinations, including a talking pig's head. He finds his family home empty with blood on the carpet, and in a nightmarish sequence, egged on by his agent, imagines shooting his own family. Online threats add menace.
