Rebel Ridge: parents' guide
Best for ages 15 and up. Rated TV-MA.
A tense, slow-burn thriller about police corruption in a small Southern town, best for older teens. A Black ex-Marine trying to bail out his cousin has his cash seized by local officers and gets pulled into a cover-up. He fights back mostly with nonlethal force, but there are stabbings, shootings and heavy bleeding, and a family member is killed. A woman is forcibly injected with drugs and must be revived from an overdose, and one character attempts suicide. Swearing is heavy, with at least 50 f-words, and there is no sex. Age 15 reflects the language, drug content and suicide attempt.

Worth talking about
The plot turns on civil forfeiture, a real practice that lets police seize cash from people who have not been charged with a crime. Is it fair, and does it matter that the man targeted here is Black?
