No One Will Save You: parents' guide

13+our pick

Best for ages 13 and up. Rated PG-13 for violent content and terror.

An inventive, almost wordless alien-invasion thriller for teens who can handle intense scares. A lonely young woman, shunned by her small town, fights off aliens that break into her home one night. There is no swearing and no sexual content beyond nude, featureless aliens and a bare-shouldered shower, but the attacks are long and harrowing, with stabbings, bodies bending unnaturally and slimy parasites crawling into mouths. A flashback shows a childhood fight that ended in a young girl's death, a guilt the heroine still carries. We suggest 13 for the sustained terror.

What's in it

Violence

Moderate

Brynn stabs, impales and blows up aliens and fights off possessed townspeople; one is stabbed in the throat and another in the gut. She is thrown, pinned to a ceiling and cut. A flashback shows a young girl killed by a blow from a rock.

Language

None

Almost no spoken dialogue and no profanity; God's name is misused once in a letter she writes.

Sex and nudity

Mild

The aliens are nude but have no visible anatomy. The heroine is seen from the shoulders up in a shower, and a couple kisses at a distance.

Drinking, drugs and smoking

Mild

The heroine drinks a single glass of wine at home. No drugs or drunkenness.

Scary or intense scenes

Strong

Long, nerve-racking home-invasion sequences with eerie lights and sounds, aliens taking control of people, human bodies contorting, and wriggling parasites visible under the skin. The heroine has panic attacks, and some body horror is grotesque.

Sensitive topics

  • Death of a child

Worth talking about

Brynn has lived with guilt over a childhood tragedy for years. Talk about forgiveness, including forgiving yourself, and why it helps to tell someone about painful memories.
