Jurassic World Rebirth: parents' guide
Best for ages 12 and up. Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence/action, bloody images, some suggestive references, language and a drug reference.
A tense monster adventure that plays more like a creature feature than earlier entries in the series. A team of mercenaries and a stranded family dodge dinosaurs on a remote island, and at least eight people are eaten, with bloody moments including a severed arm and a mutant predator that looks grotesque. A young girl seems to be eaten before turning up safe. Language includes a few s-words, a teen jokes about marijuana with a child, and two dinosaurs are seen mating. We suggest 12 and up for the near-constant peril.
What's in it
Violence
ModerateAt least eight people are killed by dinosaurs, mostly offscreen, but some are bitten or swallowed with blood, and a severed arm is shown. A helicopter crew is crushed, dinosaurs are shot, and characters tumble down cliffs.
Language
ModerateThree s-words, several "bitch" and "damn," about six uses of "hell," and "oh God" or "Jesus" as exclamations about five times.
Sex and nudity
MildA teen couple hugs and implies they share a room, and the girl's little sister quips about the boyfriend's "naked side." Two dinosaurs mate nonexplicitly, a wet T-shirt clings to a woman, and a man urinates (seen from the waist up) for a laugh.
Drinking, drugs and smoking
ModerateAdults drink beer and liquor while gambling at a bar. A teen jokingly mimes smoking a joint and asks a young girl if she smokes weed, and a character casually mentions having marijuana.
Scary or intense scenes
StrongNearly constant peril with jump scares: a boat capsized by a sea monster, a T. rex chasing a raft, flying reptiles snatching people midair, near drownings, human remains, and a deformed hybrid looming out of the fog.
Worth talking about
The team takes a dangerous job because the money is huge. How do the characters decide when profit is worth risking other people's lives?
