From: parents' guide
Best for ages 16 and up. Rated TV-MA.
A tense, gory mystery-horror series for older teens and adults. Travelers get trapped in a strange small town, and each night smiling humanlike creatures come out of the woods to kill anyone left unprotected. In the first episode a little girl and her mother are killed, and attacks, torture and mutilated bodies continue across four seasons. Expect frequent f-words, a brief sex scene with rear nudity, heavy drinking, a morphine habit and hallucinogenic mushrooms. Humans kill too, including a woman driven by voices to target a child. MGM+ rates it TV-MA; we suggest 16.
What's in it
Violence
StrongCreatures maul, torture and kill people, and the mutilated victims are shown, starting with a little girl and her mother in the premiere. A captive woman is tortured to death in season 3, and residents also shoot, stab and kill each other.
Language
StrongFrequent swearing throughout the series, including f-words, along with milder words like damn and bitch.
Sex and nudity
ModerateA few make-out scenes, a brief shot of a couple having sex in a chair with moaning, and a woman seen nude from behind. Otherwise romance stays at kissing.
Drinking, drugs and smoking
StrongAdults drink, sometimes to excess. One character secretly takes morphine and goes through withdrawal, another uses hallucinogenic mushrooms to try to recover memories, and a crash victim turns out to have been on drugs.
Scary or intense scenes
StrongUnrelenting dread: grinning creatures knock at windows and beg to be let in, children are threatened and hurt, a mother is pushed from a tower, and mysterious figures haunt the residents. Mutilated corpses and creepy imagery appear often.

Worth talking about
Trapped residents must decide whether to trust each other or turn on each other. Ask how fear changes the way people treat newcomers and anyone who seems different.
