11.22.63: parents' guide
Best for ages 16 and up. Rated TV-MA.
A gripping time-travel thriller miniseries for older teens and adults, following a teacher who goes back to 1960 to stop the Kennedy assassination. It mixes romance and history with bursts of bloody violence, including a flashback of a father killing his wife and children with a hammer and a man beaten so badly he loses his memory. An abusive husband terrorizes women, a character dies by suicide, and period characters use the N-word and homophobic slurs. Expect frequent f-words and brief sex scenes with partial nudity. We suggest 16 for the violence, language and sexual content.
